– You may practice surf, windsurf and kitesurf with wind reaching 10º Beaufort on beaches such as Valdevaqueros and Tarifa. There are surf schools in El Palmar beach, the nearest beach from Vejer.

– On the hills West from Vejer is the Vejer Vuela paragliding school, who regularly organise courses and meetings.

– You may go whale sighting or dolphin sighting from boats based in various small harbours along the coast.

– You may practise golf at Montenmedio (5 km. away), Fair Play, in Benalup, or at one of the three golf courses in Novo Sancti Petri.

– Bird-watching: Vejer itself is a perfect site from which to watch birds’ migratory movements.

– You may swim in the endless golden sand beaches of El Palmar, Caños de Meca, Zahora, Cabo de la Plata, etc.

– You may go for walks in the natural parks of La Breña, Marismas de Barbate or Los Alcornocales, rich in indigenous flora and fauna.

– You may hire a bicycle and follow some of the guided routes in La Janda area.

– You may hire a horse and ride in La Janda or, either at sunset or at sunrise, on the beaches nearby. You may also ride a donkey in the countryside around Vejer.

– You may take the hydrofoil to Tangiers from Tarifa and visit its fascinating Medina.

– Visit Montenmedio (5 Km.), an important outdoor museum, with site-specific sculptures by James Turrell, Marina Abramovic, Sol LeWitt, Fernando Sanchez Castillo, Pilar Albarracin, etc.

– Do not miss the Roman ruins and museum at Baelo Claudia, on Bolonia beach.

– Walk to the Santa Lucia Roman aqueduct just out of Vejer.

– Visit the nearby historical towns of Medina Sidonia, Tarifa and Jerez de la Frontera.

– Walk at night along the labyrinthine streets of the historical centre of Vejer.
